Fair earns All-ACC 1st-team honors, Ennis makes 2nd team

Syracuse forward C.J. Fair was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team Monday and freshman guard Tyler Ennis was a second-team selection.

Jabari Parker, Marcus Paige, T.J. Warren and K.J. McDaniels join Fair on the first team and Rodney Hood, Malcolm Brogdon, Lamar Patterson and James Michael McAdoo join Ennis to make up the second team. Ennis was also named to the All-ACC defensive team and all-freshman team for the conference.

SU forward Jerami Grant, who has battled a back injury for the past few weeks, received All-ACC honorable mention.

Fair finished seventh in the conference in scoring with 16.9 points per game and his 37.8 minutes per game were second only to Notre Dame guard Eric Atkins.

Ennis earned a reputation this season for his clutch play, highlighted by a game-winning 35-footer against Pittsburgh in February, but he also became the first freshman in ACC history to lead the conference in both assists per game — with 5.5 — and steals per game — with 2.1.

The point guard was one of two unanimous selections to the all-freshman team. Parker was the other, with North Carolina forward Kennedy Meeks, Virginia Tech guard Devin Wilson and Virginia guard London Perrantes rounding out the team.

Georgia Tech center Daniel Miller, UNC forward J.P. Tokoto, UVA forward Akil Mitchell and McDaniels join Ennis on the All-ACC defensive team.

The league’s player of the year, freshman of the year and defensive player of the year awards will be announced Tuesday.
