Car collision at intersection of Euclid and Ostrom Avenues

A man was handcuffed and taken to jail by Syracuse police early Thursday morning following a car collision at the corner of Ostrom and Euclid Avenues.

A car carrying two females was heading north on Ostrom toward Dellplain Hall around 1:45 a.m. A pick up truck carrying two males heading south on Ostrom failed to stop at a stop light while attempting to turn left onto Euclid, colliding with the females’ car in the intersection of Euclid and Ostrom.

No one was injured, though the females’ car sustained frontal damage. Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene shortly after, but the case was quickly turned over to the Syracuse Police Department.

The driver of the truck was given a breathalyzer and asked to walk straight on a bike lane line, but was unable and then handcuffed by Syracuse police.

A Syracuse police officer stated the driver was being taken to jail at around 2:30 a.m.

Syracuse police would neither confirm nor deny that the driver of the pick up truck had been charged with a DWI, but a Syracuse Department Vehicle Impound form at the scene noted that a DWI had been involved in the incident.
