Syracuse women’s lacrosse was ranked No. 4 in the Inside Lacrosse Week 2 Poll released Monday. The Orange moved up two spots following a 15-9 win over then-No. 7 Maryland in their first top-10 matchup of the season.

After a dominant 21-9 victory over UAlbany to begin the 2025 campaign, SU headed to College Park for a game against the Terrapins. In UMD’s season opener, the Orange quickly rode their hot hand, jumping out to a 5-1 lead courtesy of Emma Ward’s five points.

Syracuse continued to pour it on, leading 8-4 at halftime after its defense shut out Maryland from 2:44 left in the first quarter to 1:11 in the second. The Terrapins made a late fourth-quarter push with a 3-0 run, but it wasn’t enough to get back within striking distance.

SU goalie Daniella Guyette was superb in net, allowing nine goals on 20 shots faced. Ward’s team-leading seven points paired with Olivia Adamson’s four goals, who also helped Syracuse rebound after a slow start on the draw circle. Freshman Caroline Trinkaus also added a hat trick.

Around college women’s lacrosse, then-No. 2 Northwestern fell to No. 1 Boston College, while then-No. 4 Michigan lost to then-No. 8 Yale. Then-No. 3 North Carolina also picked up a key win by defeating then-No. 5 Florida, creating a path for the Orange to move up.

SU faces a quick turnaround, playing Cornell on Tuesday before a top-five matchup on the road against No. 2 UNC.
