Former Syracuse center back Kamal Miller was selected with the 27th overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City Soccer Club Friday afternoon.

Miller is a three-year starter for the Orange and slid over to the center back spot last year. As a sophomore, he helped SU to 11 shutouts and scored two goals and tallied two assists. He started all 20 matches he played in 2016 as the Orange held the No. 1 rank in the nation for a period of the season. Miller contributed to 19 shutouts in his career, including a shutout of then-No. 1 Wake Forest in both his junior and senior seasons.

After a 2-0 win over the Demon Deacons this year, the Miller led the Orange defense to a first-round bye in the NCAA tournament before they were knocked out by eventual National Semifinalist Akron.

Miller is the 12th SU draft pick since 2014-15 and the second Syracuse draft pick Friday, after Tajon Buchanan was drafted No. 9 overall by the New England Revolution.
