Syracuse (3-2, 1-1 Atlantic Coast) fell seven spots in the Inside Lacrosse rankings to No. 13 following an 18-7 thrashing at home against now-No. 10 Johns Hopkins last Saturday.
Just as the Orange dropped seven spots following the loss, the Blue Jays jumped seven spots following their win. SU’s other loss this season came at the hands of now-unanimous No. 1 Albany, who knocked off No. 2 Maryland, 11-10, on Saturday.
Elsewhere around the ACC, Duke (6-1) remained at No. 3 this week following a 13-9 win against No. 8 Loyola. No. 4 Notre Dame (3-1) rose seven spots following it’s 11-9 win over No. 5 Denver and No. 14 North Carolina (6-2) fell five spots after being limited to just six goals and doubled up, 12-6, against Hoftstra.
Syracuse is now 2-2 this season against ranked opponents, with wins against Army and Virginia and losses to Hopkins and Albany. The Orange has a chance to improve that record on Sunday when it travels to New Jersey to take on No. 18 Rutgers.
