Live blog: The Women’s March in Washington DC, New York City and Syracuse

Jordan Muller | Staff Writer

Women from the across the country traveled to Washington D.C. to march in the Women's March on Washington Saturday morning.

Cities worldwide are packed with demonstrators marching in the Women’s March, a global protest focused on women’s rights and issues. The primary march is in Washington D.C., just one day after Donald Trump was inaugurated. But there are over 650 sister marches planned around the world, including one in Syracuse.

Organizers originally thought 200,000 people would attend the march in Washington D.C., but current estimates indicate that number is closer to 500,000 people, The Washington Post reported. Metro ridership is also eight times the normal Saturday traffic as of 11 a.m., Metro tweeted.

In Syracuse, meanwhile, attendance was estimated by organizers to be about 2,000.
