Former Whitman School Dean Kenneth Kavajecz’s court appearance in Salina Town Court, scheduled for Thursday, has been adjourned until March.

Kavajecz, 51, has now had three consecutive scheduled court appearances adjourned since he pleaded not guilty in September to a misdemeanor charge of patronizing a prostitute. Kavajecz had a November court appearance adjourned until December, and the December court appearance was adjourned until Thursday. His court appearance is now scheduled for March 16.

Kavajecz was arrested in September on the charge of patronizing a person for prostitution in the third degree. He pleaded not guilty on Sept. 29. Authorities have said he agreed to pay $80 to an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute on March 9 at about 8 p.m. at the Candlewood Suites on South Bay Road in Salina. His arrest was the result of a prostitution sting that resulted in eight people facing the charge of patronizing a prostitute in the third degree, including Kavajecz.

Kavajecz was removed following his arrest from his position as dean of Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management and is currently on leave from his faculty position. SU has since named marketing professor S.P. Raj as the school’s interim dean. A search for a full-time dean is ongoing.
