Syracuse Director of Athletics Daryl Gross (left) and head football coach Scott Shafer (right) are excited about the Orange's 2014 ACC schedule.

Syracuse’s 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference season will begin with a Friday night home game against Louisville on Oct. 3 before a game against defending national champion Florida State in the Carrier Dome on Oct. 11.

The conference announced its full schedule Wednesday, completing the Orange’s 2014 slate. SU released its nonconference schedule in October.

Syracuse will follow up its ACC season-opening home games with road trips to Wake Forest and Clemson on Oct. 18 and 25, respectively. The Orange then returns home to face North Carolina State on Nov. 1 and defending Coastal Division champion Duke on Nov. 8 before heading into its bye week.

SU finishes the season at Pittsburgh on Nov. 22 and at Boston College on Nov. 29.

Syracuse’s nonconference schedule consists of a season opener in the Dome against Villanova on Aug. 30, a trip to Central Michigan on Sept. 13, a home date against Maryland on Sept. 20 and a game against Notre Dame in East Rutherford, N.J., for the New York’s College Classic on Sept. 27. The Orange will have its first bye week after its season-opener against the Wildcats.

In total, SU will face eight teams that qualified for a bowl game this past season, including five at home, and five that finished in the Associated Press Top 25 poll last season.

“We are focused on continuing the momentum from our third consecutive bowl win into the 2014 season, beginning with the home opener against Villanova,” Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer said in an SU Athletics release. “Preparations are already underway for the challenge that lies ahead.”
