Recipe: Couscous

Mother Couscous

You’re hungry for food. Real, home-cooked food. None of this dining hall or Kimmel crap. But you’re too poor to go out to a restaurant, too lazy to actually cook on a stove and too uncoordinated to prepare any kind of fancy dish. With a few ingredients, you can whip up this quick filler in less than 10 minutes in the good ol’ microwave. It even fulfills any crazy notions of a nutritionally well-rounded meal with protein, carbohydrates and, alas, some fruit. And how classy is couscous?

You’ll need:1 cup couscous cup raisins or craisins cup red beans (drained) tbsp cinnamonSalt and pepper (to taste)Microwave-safe bowl with lid

To make:1. Pour couscous into a microwave-safe bowl.2. Add about 1 cup water.3. Add cinnamon, salt and pepper. Mix. 4. Lid and microwave for four minutes.5. Stir in beans and raisins.6. Serve and enjoy!
